Twelve Workplace Reportable Violations In UAE
Recently, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) in the UAE shed light on 12 crucial workplace violations that employees can bring to the notice of authorities. In a significant step towards workplace transparency and fairness, the MoHRE has launched an awareness campaign across its social media platforms.
The 12 reportable workplace violations are: 1) False Emiratisation cases; 2) Non-compliance with Emiratisation requirements; 3) Harassment complaints; 4) Withholding end-of-service benefits; 5) Excessive overtime (beyond two hours); 6) Denial of annual leave or compensation; 7) Reporting violating workers; 8) Substandard worker accommodation; 9) Health and safety breaches; 10) Mid-day break violations (when applicable); 11) Forced labour practices; and 12) Human trafficking incidents.
This initiative is part of the ministry’s broader efforts to enhance oversight mechanisms and inspection operations in the private sector. The goal is to educate establishments about the Labour Relations Law and its executive decisions. Employees and community members can report violations through multiple channels: a) MoHRE smart application; b) Official website (mohre.gov.ae); and c) Call centre (600-590-000).

Indian-origin Couple In NZ Donates 40% of Wealth
Ranjna Patel and her husband broke with convention as they built a large, successful healthcare network. What they did with the millions they made broke the mould, too. Ranjna and her doctor husband Kantilal could certainly afford a lot more. The couple founded Tāmaki Health, starting with a single clinic in Ōtara in 1977, building it into the largest independent primary health care provider in the country.
Ranjna has collected a host of business awards and accolades along the way. The Patels sold their last remaining stake in the business, leaving them to focus on their community work, which includes a Hindu temple they built in Papatoetoe and a successful family harm prevention programme, Gandhi Nivas. The Patels are reluctant to say exactly how much money was donated but estimates it's "about 40%" of their wealth. Ranjna observed: "The Eastern way is, the more you give, the more will come back to you. And I think that has worked for us. Giving back is your greatest strength. After 60, I thought 'what more do I need?' Now, nearly 70 I feel, well, how many more years do you have left?"
